What We Offer
As John Goodlad argued almost 30 years ago (1983), the individual school is the key unit for educational improvement and that is the level at which AIW professional development concentrates its efforts.
AIW provides an explicit framework for instruction and assessment that is necessary for program coherence and strong professional community across grades and subjects.
AIW typically begins with one or two interdisciplinary or cross-grade lead teams at a school and then expands to full staff over the next one to three years.
Once you become an AIW school, the following professional development opportunities are provided to educators:
- Onsite Coaching of AIW pilot school teams and support of district expansion
- Local Coach Development
- Lead Coach Development
- Annual AIW Institutes
- Leadership Seminars
- Summer Academy with two tracks:
- Coordinator’s Academy
- Next Steps Academy
- Combo Academy
- Online Classes
- Keynote Speaking
- Panel Discussions
- Introductory Workshops
